BACKGROUND & TRAINING

I graduated from Ithaca College with my BA in Psychology and a minor in Counseling followed by my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from SUNY New Paltz. I completed an additional 100+ hour certification program in Child-Centered Play Therapy, with a Neuro-relational emphasis. I obtained my license through 2 years of supervised experience at a private practice setting and have worked with a wide array of ages and presenting concerns.

PHILOSOPHY

I am a believer in the importance of connecting to the human experience and knowing that facing difficulties is a necessary and important part of living. Through a process of accepting what is and moving towards what we value, clients can achieve the peace and happiness they often desire without closing off from discomfort or strife. I trust in the power of safe and supportive relationships in helping people toward thinking, feeling, and behaving in ways that are more aligned with their authentic selves.

RELATED HOBBIES & INTERESTS

Spending quality time with my dog Milo and other loved ones, connecting with nature on walks, hikes, or just being outside, dancing, arts and crafts, exercising, and listening to music.

SPECIALIZATIONS

I genuinely enjoy providing individual counseling to people of all ages.

In play therapy, I am trained in a non-directive, brain-based approach that allows children to grow and process in a way that feels natural, safe, and connected. From the outside, play may seem frivolous, but through careful responses and facilitation, children can use play to build necessary skills, more secure attachment, and greater understanding of themselves.

Much of my training and experience across age groups has been geared towards helping individuals with anxiety disorders, OCD, depression, and general life dissatisfaction.

THERAPEUTIC STYLE

I strive to be a very genuine, warm, and safe therapist. I like to connect my clients to a sense of resilience that transcends any specific challenge and instead encourages a belief in their ability to face all situations that may come. An important piece of my work is helping my clients show compassion to their past and present selves to build a foundation of support and validation from the self. I work best with clients who are willing to be open and explore new ways of being in an attempt to find more authentic and valuable ways of moving through life. No two people are the same, so I tailor my counseling to meet each client in their unique world and help move them towards a life that is fulfilling by their personal measure.

COMMON ISSUES I HELP WITH

Many of the clients I meet with seek help in learning to cope with anxiety, OCD, depression, relational challenges, societal pressures, and forms of neurodivergence such as ADHD and Autism. I often work with clients who would describe themselves as feeling trapped or overwhelmed in unpleasant life circumstances, thought patterns, or emotional challenges. I work well with queer people, women, highly sensitive people, and individuals who find they don't conform to perceived or observable standards. If you are someone who is looking for a safe space to explore your life and try something new, I am here to guide and support you.
